The game of football is a business. A ruthless business at that. And no one runs their business more ruthlessly than one Bill Belichick.
This is a fact that the entire football world is aware of. Well, I guess not the entire football world since Demaryius Thomas doesn’t seem to understand how things work around here.
“It was insulting, for sure.”
That right there proves he never would’ve made it on the Patriots.
Insulting? My man, this is New England. This is an organization that has shipped out players like Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, Richard Seymour, Malcom Butler, Brandin Cooks and Randy Moss. All players who are better than you and were at the time they walked out of Foxboro.
What would’ve happened when a couple games go by and you’re not the focal point of the offense? You gonna cry like a little baby then too? Tell reporters you feel disrespected? Get outta here.
Bill doesn’t have time to worry about your fragile feelings when he’s trying to make it to his 4th Super Bowl in 5 years.
This was what really showed me that Thomas was not meant to play North of the Wall:
“Josh McDaniels drafted me. So, I felt like I was cool. But even having conversations with him and couple other people, it was like, ‘You’re going to be okay.’ Two weeks later, AB gets cut… and then they kicked me (to the curb) and shipped me out like I’m just a rookie.
It was disrespectful to me. Like, you know, you could trust me and I could trust you. You told me when you cut me at the (final) cut, sit around you’ll bring me back. And I stayed. I could have easily become a Jet once I got cut.… I could have been here the next day after I got released. But I chose to stay.”
Whatta baby-back bitch!
Your first mistake was thinking you were ‘cool’. You can’t have any sense of security on this team. Hell, Tom Brady goes into every practice acting like he’s playing for his job. You’re telling me an over the hill wideout is gonna feel some sort of complacency? HA!
And you didn’t get shipped out like you were some rookie. You weren’t disrespected or lied to. You know what happened? A MUCH better receiver became available and you were the odd man out. I’m sure it sucks to come to grips with that which is why you’re lashing out like a scorned boyfriend, but that’s just how it is my friend.
Do you think any team in this league would think twice about giving you your walking papers in order to sign Antonio Brown? Even the Redskins would do that and they don’t even know how to run their own organization!
Demaryius was right about one thing though. This was a waste of time. Belichick never should’ve brought him back. This guy was born to be a Jet. He’s a fragile-minded, injury ridden receiver who needs to be coddled constantly.
That’s not what we do here.
You didn’t make the cut. It’s never personal, it’s just business. Have fun watching from the couch when the playoffs start.
