Listen, I’m not the type to blame the officiating as to why a team loses. Wait…you know what…fuck that. This was a fucking screwjob. The calls that were missed in this game were inexcusable and punishable by death. It got to the point where you were honestly wondering what the officials were gonna let the Blues get away with.
But please, don’t take my word for it. There’s proof.
So you can just hold someone stick for half the play? That’s cool.
And apparently headshots are all good now in the playoffs. Good to know. So when a Bruins player lays out someone from the Blues next game I don’t wanna hear any bullshit from anyone then, okay?
Honestly though, what the fuck is that? How are NONE of those called!? I’m not gonna sit here and pretend like I’m a hockey expert, but you don’t have to be versed in every penalty in the sport to know those hits should have been called.
You know what they DID call though? This:
THE HORROR! What a violent act by Marchand there. How dare he try to poke the goalie to get the puck out. Shame!
And then we get arguably the worst missed call I’ve ever seen in a hockey game. What made this worse? It directly led to a goal 10 seconds later.
I’m not sure what more evidence you need to call tripping. I mean, the Blues player even turns around and throws his hand up already to argue the upcoming penatly that he KNEW he should have gotten.
I mean just look at the surprise on his face when he finds out nothing was called.
Could the Bruins have played better? Sure. This wasn’t a flawless performance whatsoever. But in a game that was decided by one goal, and that goal only occurred because the officials missed and obvious call? That’s when it becomes okay to blame officiating.
There’s still more hockey to be played of course. But it’s tough to look past the incompetent officiating in this game and wonder if it’s something that’s gonna continue. Because it’s tough enough to win the Stanley Cup without wondering what side the officials are gonna be on that night.
Screw you NHL.
P.S. I can’t post this blog and not give a shoutout to David Krejci. Almost invisible this entire series but I refuse to believe that this blocked goal isn’t gonna mean something when it’s all said and done.
