In case you didn’t know, Zac Efron is going to be playing notorious serial killer, Ted Bundy, in the upcoming movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. And they came out with the second trailer tonight:
First and foremost, I completely forgot that this is gonna be a Netflix movie. That’s crazy to me. Zac Efron is going to be in a movie about Ted Bundy and it’s not going to theaters. Netflix is gonna take over the world.
Anyway, this trailer is a billion times better than the first trailer. The first one had a much more lighter tone to it. A tone that I personally thought made absolutely no sense whatsoever. And then it spawned a shit ton of people being pissed that the movie was showing Bundy in a favorable light or making light of what he did. So having a trailer like this come out with a much more darker tone was good to see. When you are making a movie about Ted freaking Bundy, I don’t need any light tone whatsoever. I want a creepy, weird trailer and that’s exactly what we got here.
Real quick though, I’m already seeing people bitch and moan that this movie is romanticizing Ted Bundy. Making him seem like a charming, fun loving man. Well, newsflash people, one, this is a movie about Ted Bundy. In some shape or form, it’s gonna seem like he’s being glorified. This same argument happens whenever any movie is made about any sort of notorious person or event. Like with the Marathon Bombings. Or the new Slender Man movie to have a more recent example. Movies need to be made about these things. No one reads books or anything anymore so the only way to really document what happens in the world is to make some sort of film or documentary out of it. So stop bitching.
Also, of COURSE this movie is gonna show Bundy acting all charming or whatever. That was his entire schtick. He was a psychopath who could turn on the charm whenever he wanted in order to do vile things. The title confused the hell out of me when I first heard it by the way. Like, why do we have such a long, random title? I had no idea that it was a direct quote from the Miami (ugh, Florida) Judge who heard Bundys case.
P.S. Zac Efron really does look JUST like Ted Bundy..it’s the nose and the eyes.
