I’ve had about enough of this asshat. James Cameron, in case you didn’t know, is the director behind the WILDLY overrated ‘Avatar’. A movie that has grossed over 2.7 billion dollars worldwide so obviously it was popular. BUT, if you really think about it, other than the blue aliens plugging their pony tails into eachother to have intercourse, what do you really remember about the movie?……Exactly.
Mr. Cameron..from here on out I am going to be speaking directly to you:
How dare you. How dare you talk shit about Aquaman? Full disclosure, I have not seen the movie yet (I know, shame on me). But I think I can still speak on this. How can you say, and I quote, “I never could have made that film because it requires this kind of total dream-like disconnect from any sort of physics or reality.” My friend, YOU MADE A LOVE STORY HIDDEN IN A SCI-FI FILM ABOUT A BLUE ALIEN FALLING IN LOVE WITH A HUMAN/ALIEN HYBRID! Please remind me how that movie is based in ‘physics or reality’?
What is Aquaman about by the way? THE OCEAN! A VERY REAL THING! Granted, it is a comic movie, so there are clearly fictional aspects and characters involved. My point is stop being a god damn hypocrite sir. I don’t have enough time to really dive into everything he said (he brings up how he is a professional diver so he knows that Aquaman doesn’t “look real”) but here’s a link if you’d like to find out for yourself: https://comicbook.com/dc/2019/02/13/jame-cameron-aquaman-praise/
Oh, and while we’re on the point of you being a hypocrite, lets dive into something you said a while back while we’re at it. We all know about Marvel right? The wildly successful comic book company created by the great Stan Lee (RIP) which led into the most profitable movie company in history. Yeah, this douchebag decided to throw some shade at them as well!
Jimmy said, back in 2018, that he is “hoping that we’ll start getting Avengers fatigue pretty soon….there are other stories to tell besides hyper-gonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process”. Yeah, I have a few comments about that:
- This is coming from a man who has planned his Avatar sequels out to 2021. So for him to say he wants the audience to be tired of a franchise that is doing incredibly well, both at the box office and with critics, when he is planning on doing the same thing with his franchise comes off a biiiittttttt hypocritical, yet again.
- Does this imbecile actually watch these movies or does he just blindly comment out of jealousy? Because that’s exactly how he sounds. Like a jealous boyfriend whos girlfriend left him for a better lover. Are there manly men, doing manly men things throughout these movies? For sure yup! But if you actually WATCH these films you’ll find out that there is an actual plot with messages and lessons mixed in as well. Not just men ‘wrecking cities’ for two hours.
- The comment ‘there are other stories to tell’ is asinine. Every single one of these movies tells a different story with different character arcs and different themes. So you complaining that there are other stories that can be told isn’t really a valid critique, its just you expressing that these movies just aren’t for you. Which is fine! No one is making you watch them! You should be busy spending millions of dollars to make your overrated, over-hyped sequels to your fictional story about humans invading an alien planet (real original) anyway.
I say all that to say this: Shut the fuck up James Cameron. Don’t hate on what is cool just to be a contrarian. You sound childish. If these movies aren’t your cup of tea, that’s fine. If you would rather take YEARS between making movies that no one really even wants, that’s fine too! Just stop trying to make headlines to keep your name out there so you can remind people that you’re still planning on making Avatar movies.
Oh, and btw, 72 days until Avengers: Endgame.
